1.14: Whistle While You Work

Neat Ella is always sure to attend to ruffled sheets in the house, but she did stop her task to put her book away to do this. One task at a time, Ella dear.

Ella: Sid, my love, I’m dedicating this song to you!

Yensid: That’s nice, my darling. But if you could please sing quieter? I’m trying to finish reading about the best repair practices.

Yensid: What if I’m never able to complete my life goals?!

I’m not sure where Ella got this umbrella, but she’s been using it as a parasol, shading herself from the sun wherever she goes.

Happy tends to stay on school grounds to do his homework. On this particular day, someone struck his fancy.

Happy: Woah, who was that?

‘Twas Kaid Willow, the Lady Knight’s son. As soon as he walked by Happy, our boy rolled the wish to learn his sign. Happy falling in love with the son of his father’s former dalliance? This could prove interesting.

Happy stalked met up with Kaid in a premeditated manner and started up a conversation.

Happy: What do you think about zombies and the moon, Kaid?

Kaid: What the heck are you talking about?

Happy: Hey, look at that! We have compatible signs!

Kaid: Oh, how great…

Every interaction after that ended with Kaid being bored or offended. Sorry, Jessica. Looks like your son is not the Prince Charming we’re looking for.

While Happy was failing to charm Kaid, I got a popup saying some elderly coworker of Sid’s had rejected his woohooty text. YENSID WEDWAY! Are you an Epic Legacy founder, or aren’t you? I sent Happy home after this so we could keep a closer watch on our wayward knight. He’s going to be a joy when he’s an elder and I can’t control him anymore.

Happy’s favorite person in the family at this point might just be the bunny gnome. It’s always watching over our dwarf as he tends the garden.

Happy: Mother, how did you know you were in love with father?

Ella: Oh, Happy. You’re still too young to be thinking of love. Just enjoy your childhood while you can, son.

Ella’s work friend Dennis showed up at the castle again, along with another man from work, Mick.

Mick: This is the place?

Dennis: Sure is. Good luck!

Dennis left before Ella even came to the door.

Ella: Mick! Why the heck are you standing in such an inconvenient location?

Mick: I just wanted to tell you about my daughter, she just grew up! Do you think she’d make a suitable candidate for legacy spouse?

Ella: I don’t know, Mick. I’m not really comfortable choosing Happy’s mate. He’ll pick when he’s ready.

*Not to mention that Mick’s daughter looks pretty face one. I could reroll her face, of course, but it feels more authentic to find someone naturally.

Mick: Maybe there are other ways I could convince you to hear me out?

Ella: Oh, Mick…

-_-

Ella: That sounds like a rockin’ plan!

Mick: Uhh…right. Rock on, I guess.

Ella: But my answer is still no. Now please leave.

Yensid: I’m sensing something’s afoot, wife. Have you anything to say?

Ella: Of course I have something to say, my love.

Ella: I love you so much.

Yensid: And I you, dearest Ella.

Proof of the family’s hard work. Sid’s plaques for mastering athletic and handiness, and Ella’s for mastering cooking.

Now that Happy’s reached the requisite gardening skill, gardening duties are given to whoever is available in the morning as opposed to solely Happy.

Also, exhibit B of Ella carrying her parasol.

Ella: Tally ho, husband. Don’t mind me, just making my way to the tub.

Happy is finally able to start putting his art skills to use immortalizing his parents on canvas. He starts with Ella, as she’s close to aging at this point, thus we’ll have less chances to redo it if needed.

Sid doesn’t come straight home from work today, deciding that checking the sink is more important.

Note: I can’t believe I forgot about the barracks! I could have been using these sinks and toilets to improve his handiness skill! Oh well, too late now.

It’s been rainy in Hidden Springs the last few days, and Sid is sure to take time out of his busy schedule to enjoy splashing in the puddles.

Yensid: D’oh, I’ve soiled my clothes splashing around…

At this point, both Sid and Happy have been wanting to improve their relationship since they’ve become distant friends. While looking through the options, I saw that Sid had the option to teach Happy how to drive, despite the obvious lack of vehicle. I just had to see what would happen if I clicked that option.

Happy: I’m so thrilled you’re finally teaching me to ride my bike, father! Not like I’ve been doing so on my own since childhood or anything!

Yensid: Uhh…yes. Of course, son. Anything for my boy.

OMFG. I cannot handle this XD

Ella: Oh, look. Someone’s left a perfectly good umbrella lying in this puddle.

Actually, that’s just a Sim glitched through the floor. Tends to happen a lot, I’m afraid.

Ella: Oh, Yensid! Let’s go make beautiful music together!

Happy: Disgusting, parents. Why would you do this in my bedroom?

Lately, Sid and Ella seem more devoted to each other than ever. They’re all over each other when not occupied with other tasks. Have they finally settled down?

Happy: Mother’s such a good guitar player, don’t you agree, Father?

Yensid: I’ve just realized…both my son and my wife are about to age! How much of our lives have gone by?!

Note: There’s Happy’s first attempt at Ella’s portrait. We’ll hold onto it until he finishes the next one, and keep the best. I won’t push too hard for an amazing one, but I’ll try a couple times at least.

Sid wanted to go to the art gallery and Happy wants to become best friends with Sid, so I sent them together. Immediately upon entering the building, this random elderly woman attacks Sid!

Woman: You dare enter the same gallery as me?! Take THIS!

Happy: I don’t know if I’d do that if I were you. He’s kind of a big deal in the military.

Yensid: Begone, foul wench!

Happy: I told you so.

Woman: How dare that whipper snapper whip my butt and have the nerve to be hot while doing it?

Yensid: Please think things through before you act next time, attractive elderly woman.

Happy: Really, dad? I thought you were over this.

This girl showed up after the fight. Her name is Christi Vanderburg, and I think she’s the daughter of Sebastian, the love interest Ella starts with at the beginning of the game. She’s kinda cute, and Happy could always use more friends.

Happy introduces himself right away by talking about his badass father.

Happy: My father is pretty awesome, you know. He’s kind of a big deal.

Christi: You mean that guy over there?

Yensid: Confounded devices…out of my sight!

Happy: That’s the one.

Uh oh, looks like she’s an art hater. Definitely not spouse material.

Tired from her fight, the old woman passed out.

Happy: Oh dear, should we help her?

Christi: Nah, not my problem.

Note: In addition to being an art hater and indifferent to poor old women, Christi also wants to see the ghost of her rich spouse. What a charmer.

Happy: Divorce…

I do worry about his relationships, honestly, with the infidelity he’s witnessed with his parents.

Cleo is doing well at military school, and has grown up brave. She decided to stay for another term without coming home to visit.

Yensid: My son, can’t you stay youthful forever? I’m not ready to face your transition to adulthood…

Happy: Relax, father. Soon, I’ll be taking the reigns from you and you’ll have a chance to do whatever you want.

While poor Sid worried about the coming changes, some aliens decided to snatch him up.

Yensid: I have been violated…

At least it looks like it was a woman alien, so he probably won’t get pregnant.

Yensid: Is this…what my Happy has produced with his own hands?

Uhh, yes? There are more like them all over this house.

Like these, for example. The one on the left was his first attempt, and it’s also the one I kept. I might give it one more try, but it’s really not too bad.

On this day, Sid leaves work finally completing his life’s mission: he’s become an astronaut!!! Once Ella tops her career, we’ll have reached our generation 1 goals! And just in time, too.

With the topping of our heir’s career, this also means that my generation mini-challenge is complete too! We can finally have a fridge, and the Wedways can stop eating nothing but produce and fish!

Happy: Why do I have to do homework on my last day of school?

He really doesn’t have to. He chose to.

One last set of homework dispensed with, it was time for Happy to finally grow up and take over the family!

Yensid: Despite my misgivings, I’m happy for you, son!

How will our perfect little boy grow up?

Happy: Father. The moon! It makes zombies!

Yensid: Where have I gone wrong?

I guess the pressure of being raised as the perfect child got to him. Happy grew into adulthood with insanity. His goal in life is to become a Master Artist, and he’ll soon enroll in the self-employed painter career.

With that, generation 1 of this legacy comes to a close! Will Happy rise up to the occasion and make his family proud, or will he crack under the pressure? Only time will tell.

1.13: Someday My Prince Will Come

Poor Cleo wakes up unaware of her parents’ decision to send her off to boarding school.

Cleo: What a happy day for a new adventure.

Cleo: But first, I should check my bed for monsters.

Cleo: Oh, shoot! Big brother, save me!

Happy: Soon, my works will be displayed in a gallery…

Ella enjoys the nice morning weather by playing outdoors. I’m sure the family appreciates not being woken by her songs.

Happy: Good morning, father. Care for some fish?

Yensid: My boy can fend for himself now? Have I become obsolete as a parent?

Happy: Don’t be so dramatic, father. It’s only fish.

The family are all on different parts of their morning routine. It’s the weekend, so Happy is able to take his time with the garden. He’s almost at level 5 of gardening now.

Yensid: Daughter, you know your mother and I love you very much, right?

Cleo: Of course, daddy. I love you guys too.

Yensid: Then you’ll know that what’s about to happen is for the best?

Cleo: What do you mean?

Paper Girl: Hey, Cleo! See you at school on Monday, right?

Cleo: Sorry, but no. I’m being sent away to starve.

For some reason I had it in my head that she wouldn’t be taken away the very next day. Poor girl didn’t even get to finish her breakfast. Good luck at boarding school, Cleo. We love you!

Paper Girl: Best of luck, Cleo!

Purple Paper Girl is cute. Too bad she’s not older, I might have put her on Happy’s spouse options list.

Ever the studious boy, Happy does makes sure his homework is done early.

He then gets back to his painting.

Ella came home with some sushi in her inventory from work. Maybe to review? I figured it was okay for her to eat it.

Ella: It sure is nice to eat normal food again for once…

Ella: Husband. I demand you take me to bed.

Yensid: Not now, wife. I need to finish reading this handiness book.

Not wanting to waste his entire weekend, Happy went out on the town and ran into a boy from school, Leonel Robison.

Leonel: The stars are just crazy, bro. Right? Like, how’d they all get up there?

Happy: Umm, what?

Happy: I don’t know about the stars, but the moon sure is cool! It makes zombies rise from the ground once a month.

Leonel: You’re so right, bro. The moon is epic.

Here’s a better look at Leo. He’s pretty cute, and a quick check of his traits shows that he could be a good match for next generation.

Apparently, Happy agrees.

Happy: Did you pop out of one of those classic romance novels? Cause you honestly feel perfect…

Leonel: That’s, like, the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.

The boys chatted and flirted a bit, building up their relationship. Happy seems to really like him, maybe even more than he liked Lora.

Happy: I’m so glad we ran into each other today, Leo. I’ve always thought you were cool in class, but I never had the nerve to say anything.

Leonel: I’ve felt the same way, Happy. You’ve always been so cute and earnest.

Happy goes in for his first kiss!

Happy: Can I…do that again?

Leonel: Yes. Please do.

Happy: I really like you, Leo. Will you go out with me?

Leonel: Definitely, bro.

Has Happy met his one true love? Only time will tell.

Leonel: So, does this mean we’re gonna have babies in the future? I’m not sure I’m ready for that right now, bro.

Happy: Let’s slow things down a bit, Leo. How about we go somewhere and hang out? Like, a date.

Leonel: Now you’re speaking my language!

The boys headed over to the pool for their date.

They had a fun time bonding.

Afterwards, Happy brought his new boyfriend home to meet his parents.

Yensid: Son! Where have you been all day?

Happy: Actually, father, there’s somebody outside I want you to meet.

Leonel: Hi, Mr. Wedway. I’m Leonel. I’m dating your son.

Yensid: My son is courting someone?

Leonel: It’s new, but it’s all right out of a fairytale. He’s like a prince who came and swept me off my feet.

Yensid: I like what I’m hearing. Yes, indeed.

Yensid: But I swear, if you hurt my boy, I will hunt you down! Fiend!

Leonel: Woah, dude. Chill.

Yensid and Leonel: ~person person plus~

Leonel: Am I setting myself up for heartbreak, getting involved with this family?

Ella missed all the excitement, as she decided to stay at the restaurant after work and busk.

Happy: I’m dedicating this new piece to my love, who comes from the world of technology. I call it Two Worlds, One Family.

Happy: I wonder if he’ll like it.

Yensid: Wife! Wake up! I must tell you of the young lad claiming to court our son!

Ella: I would so love to cook my family an actual meal…

Ella’s wish will come true soon enough, as Sid is getting closer to the top of his career.

Ella tends to the garden in the morning, as Happy wasn’t up early enough before school.

*Please pretend that she’s singing herself a tune while she works.

The happy couple works opposite shifts, so when Sid gets home, Ella leaves for work.

Ella: Goodbye, dear. Have a nice evening!

Yensid: And you as well, my princess.

Ella: Hello, young lady. What are you doing out so late?

Girl: I’m trying to get home so I can sleep, ma’am. Please get out of my way.

I can’t remember her name, but this girl is also on my short list for Happy’s spouses. She’s super cute and she already has an LTW which would work for the next generation. I do like Leo though. If Happy ever runs into her and they get along, we’ll consider her. He’s still young, so he has plenty of time to find his happily-ever-after.

1.12: There’s Trouble A-Brewin’

Newly teenaged Happy spends many hours perfecting his works of art, sometimes ignoring his own needs.

He’s not all about work though, giving lots of attention to baby sister Cleo.

Happy: I know you’re young, Cleo, but you’ll soon learn that father is unreliable. Don’t you worry though, big brother will always be here for you.

Cleo: Yay, I love big brother!

A strange gnome appeared on the family’s lot one night. Sid has declared it the family’s guardian.

The bunny gnome also signifies the coming of spring! Since Happy is now a teenager and we can plant things again, our future heir can continue the family’s garden.

Happy: I can’t wait to eat something other than fish!

It’s Happy’s first day of high school, but he has other plans.

Happy: Hehehe, two can play this game, father.

In an uncharacteristic act of rebellion, he’s decided to play hooky. He heads toward the spring festival for some fun.

First thing’s first, a face tattoo.

Happy: So scandalous.

Then, stopping to smell the roses.

Happy: Mother would love this flower! I should collect some for her.

Then…he heads to the library to read a book.

Happy: I feel a little bad, skipping out on a whole day of learning. At least this way I’m somewhat making up for it.

Man: You’re not very good at this rebellion thing, are you kid?

Happy: I’m trying my best, okay?!

Enough of that, though. Once school lets out, Happy heads to a certain girl’s house. He wants to become great friends with Lora Colby, so we’ll make that happen for him.

Happy: Mr. Colby, good to see you sir. Is Lora home?

Christoff: Happy! Always glad to see such a polite, responsible boy. Lora’s not back yet, she usually hangs around town with her friends before dinner.

Happy: Oh, okay. Thanks so much.

Not to be deterred, Happy managed to track her down.

Lora: Oh, hey Happy. I didn’t see you at school today.

Happy: That’s because I skipped today. I was too busy basking in the glory of spring. Everything’s so…fertile and full of life at this time, you know? 😉

Lora: I totally get it. The flowers are gorgeous this time of year.

Happy: Yeah, of course. The flowers.

He’s too innocent for his innuendos to have an effect.

Lora’s pretty cute, and she’s a virtuoso if I remember right. She could work for Happy’s spouse. I’ll keep her in mind, but we’ll explore other options too.

The two continued talking, and Happy found himself more and more enamored with her. He wanted to grow even closer to his first childhood friend.

Happy: Would you maybe wanna go to a movie with me or something? My father probably wouldn’t approve, but I think I can sneak some money to get us tickets.

Lora: Oh…Happy…I like you a lot, I really do. You’re a star in my book, honestly. But I don’t think my boyfriend would approve of me going on a date with another guy.

Happy: Boyfriend? What boyfriend? I’ll gladly fight him for your honor, it’s sort of a family tradition.

Lora: It’s Charles, silly.

Happy: Ch…Charles?

Charles: Did I hear something about fighting?

Happy: Hehe, of course not, Charles. All jokes. I’m super happy for you two, but I’ve gotta go now, bye!

Charles is Happy’s best friend at school, so it’s probably not the best idea to pursue Lora at the moment. We’ll keep looking.

Note: This Charles is Charles Winterly II. The Winterly’s start out the game with a son named Charles, and in my game, they named this one Charles as well. I found it too funny to change, like the Winterly’s were disappointed by their first son and had the second one as a replacement. Am I a horrible person? Probably.

Happy managed to get home before curfew, but his father was waiting at the door for him.

Yensid: Where have you been, young man? You had your mother and I worried sick about you.

Happy: Woah, father. I’m sorry I was out so late, but I don’t think you have much room to talk here. You worry mother and I all the time.

Yensid: Blasphemous child, don’t turn this back around on me!

Yensid: You…you are in trouble!

Happy: Awesome, I’m such a rebel ^.^

Yensid: What is wrong with this child?

Yensid: I am sorry, Happy…I shouldn’t have yelled at you. This is the first time you’ve ever defied us, I should have been more lenient.

Happy: No, father. Don’t try to worm your way out of this. It’s good that I’m in trouble. That means you’re being a parent.

Yensid: I’ve raised such a strange individual…

While Sid disciplines their oldest child, Ella attempts to teach Cleo about the joys of music.

Ella: Here, Cleo. The melody for “twinkle twinlke little star” goes like this.

Cleo: I don’t wanna play that song anymore, mama! ~bashes random keys~

Ella: This isn’t working. That child simply doesn’t understand the nuances of making music.

Ella: At least I can play over those horrendous tinking sounds.

Content with his day of rebellion, Happy gladly went to school the next morning. He could have never expected what would await him when he returned home, however.

Happy: Umm…who is this man? MOTHER!!!

Ella: Dennis? What are you doing here?

Dennis: We’ve missed you at the diner, Ella. I just wanted to check up on you, make sure you’re doing alright.

Ella: Oh, how sweet of you. My husband should be home any minute, and I’m sure he’d love to meet you. Won’t you come in?

Happy: What does mother think she’s doing, inviting that guy inside? Father will be furious, Bunny Gnome.

Bunny Gnome: Yes, yes. I concur.

I doubt Yensid will ever even know Dennis was there, honestly.

Jessica: Sid.

Yensid: Lady knight.

Jessica: We tell nobody about this, like always?

Yensid: Of course.

Ella: I’ve missed you all so much, but it’s honestly been nice being on maternity leave. I’ve had a lot of time to perfect my musical abilities!

Dennis: I’d love to hear you play, sometime.

Dennis: Ughh, I can’t do this anymore, pretending to be nice and happy for you!

Ella: What do you mean, Dennis?

Dennis: I like you, Ella. I have for a long time…

Ella: Den…

Dennis: I brought these flowers for you, won’t you accept them?

Ella: This is highly inappropriate, but they are lovely…

Ella: I’ll accept them, thank you. But please know that I’m happily married. I’m flattered you feel this way, but I can’t return your feelings.

Dennis: I get it, Ella. I really do. You can’t just forget about your family.

Dennis: Can I at least have a hug?

Ella: I’m really sorry, Dennis. I know hugs don’t mean anything, but I’m just not comfortable with that.

Dennis: Oh…I understand.

Ella: You are a catch, Dennis. You’re going to make some girl very happy someday. I hope you find your paradise.

Dennis: Ella…you’re making this really hard for me…

Ella: He’s such a nice guy…why does he have to have feelings for me?

Back at Jessica’s house, we catch a glimpse of Kaid. He looks just like his father.

Jessica: I’m so glad you came to visit again, Sid. I feel like a maiden from one of those fancy portraits when you’re here.

Jessica: And of course it’s great to have a positive male influence around the house for Kaid, as well. That boy’s been getting into some trouble lately, it’s hard to understand him.

Yensid: My Happy has been misbehaving lately as well, lady knight. I understand what you’re going through.

Jessica: I just need our weekly cuddle to calm my nerves. Get to the porch, boy.

Yensid: How I love being commanded by the valiant lady knight.

Dennis: You’re my sunshine, on a cloudy day.

Ella: That’s my favorite song! You know me so well, Dennis. ~giggle~

Happy: Ughhh, mother! Not you, too! And right in front of your son…

Yensid: Make haste, milady! You are missing a wonderful view of Jupiter.

Dennis: Look, Ella, we both know we’re hungry for each other. Couldn’t you just give me a chance?

Ella: Stop, Dennis. Yes, it’s true that you’re a handsome man and I’ve let myself get caught up in your flattery. But this can’t happen. I need to take care of my family now before Sid gets home. I think you should leave. I’d like for us to remain friends, but I understand if you’d like to keep your distance while you work through your feelings.

Dennis: You’re right, Ella. I’m so sorry. I missed seeing you everyday and I let myself get carried away. I’d like to stay friends too. See you soon, Ella.

Ella: I’m sorry you had to see that, Cleo. Mama promises she won’t let it happen again.

Jessica had a broken sink, so before Sid went home he took the opportunity to fix it. Not a lot of chance to work on his handiness skill at his castle.

Cleo: And then the bad man tried to kiss mama and she put the smack down on him!

Yensid: Darling Cleo! I’ve returned, my flower. Did you miss me?

Cleo: Papa, papa!

Yensid: Greetings, son. I apologize for being late again, I hope you’ll forgive me. I had business to attend with my fellow knights.

Happy: Sure, father. You can keep up the ruse, but we all know someone was just feeling that spring fever.

Yensid: Such insolence!

Happy: Whatever, father. Deny it all you want. Maybe if he’d fessed up, I’d have told him about Dennis.

Ella: Sid, you’re home! I hope you’ve had a good day.

Yensid: I apologize for my lateness once again, my love. I shan’t let it happen again.

At least Sid made it home in time to see his daughter’s birthday, this time.

Now that Cleo is able to roam freely, she’s able to channel her excess energy into her adventurous spirit.

Cleo: The wilderness must be explored!

Cleo: “Date me already, Ella!” “No, Dennis, it’s just not right!” “Then I’ll make you date me!” And then he grabs her and they ride off into the sunset together!

Clearly, seeing her mother’s dalliance had somewhat of an affect on Cleo.

While Happy was glad to develop his skills in various areas, Cleo much prefers to explore the world and play.

Cleo: Woah, look at that mountain range over there! I bet there’s a yeti at the top.

Cleo: Let’s drive over there and kidnap the yeti to be my pet!

Yensid: My youngest child is somewhat concerning…

Yensid: Come, Cleo. I’ll show you a real adventure, the adventure of hard work. A true knight knows when to put aside frivolities and step up for his family.

Cleo: That’s nice, papa. But I think I’ll go do my own thing now instead. Oh hey, is that a butterfly?

Happy: If my parents are going to make an unwelcoming home environment by having extra-marital affairs, then I’ll just stay at school.

Happy: That’s right, father. I’m defying you once again.

Yensid: Ella, I’ve noticed some troubling things about Cleo. She’s unfocused and free spirited. I’m worried that if things don’t change, she will become deviant.

Ella: Well, she’s only a child. She’s still finding herself. But if you’re really that worried, what do you think we should do?

Yensid: I think we should send her away to our local knight academy.

Ella: You want to send her to military school?

Ella: I trust your instincts, Sid. She can leave for school on Monday.

Yensid: Excellent. I just hope it’s not too late for her.

Yensid: Knight academy will straighten out that girl.

Ella: I hope they feed her well…

And so the Wedways prepare to send their youngest child away. But will boarding school really shape Cleo into the perfect child, or will it just drive her further away from her family?

1.11: Get Along Somehow

We rejoin the Wedway household after Yensid spent the night at another woman’s house. Happy and Ella finally had to give up waiting for him to return and went to bed.

Happy: I wonder if father died. If not, I’ll kill him myself for hurting mother.

Early in the morning, Sid made it back home and was finally able to meet his daughter.

Yensid: My heart sings upon holding my precious daughter. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to meet you last night, sweet Cleo.

Ella: Sid, you’re back! I was so worried about you!

Yensid: Please accept my apologies, my love. I went to help a fellow knight after work, and it was so late when we were finished. I was invited to stay the night for my safety.

Ella: Oh Sid, you’re so gallant, helping your friends.

Yensid: I was blessed to have such an understanding wife. I love you, my Ella.

Ella: I love you too, Sid.

Ella is so forgiving that he gets away with abandoning his family again. If he keeps this behavior up, though, his luck may soon run out.

Happy: Stupid father, thinking we’ll just forgive him when he left us worrying about him. Well, I can hold a grudge.

Townie: You tell ’em, kid.

Happy: Ummm, excuse me? Why are you watching me catch our weeks’ rations?

Townie: I find it amusing.

Right…remember what I said last chapter about weirdos watching him?

Ella: What a nice night to sit down for a family dinner.

Happy: So, father. Tell us where you were last night, again?

Yensid: I was helping a fellow knight, Happy. You should learn from my selflessness.

Happy: Uhuh. And did this knight happen to be the “lady knight” you used to date?

Ella: Happy!

Yensid: Hmph. I don’t have to take this interrogation from my own flesh and blood.

Happy: Oh, did I strike a nerve?

Ella: I’m sorry, dear…Happy’s just frustrated.

Things quickly go back to normal in the household, though tension still hangs in the air.

Before they knew it, though, it was time for the youngest family member to grow into a toddler.

Cleo is absolutely adorable! She has Sid’s skintone and blue eyes, along with random brown hair. It does suit her, but I’m sad the red hair didn’t get passed down. Oh well, there’s always grandparent genetics.

Unlike her brother, who was so eager to learn all he could, Cleo doesn’t seem able to sit still at the same task for long.

Sid is quick to sit her down between tasks to start helping her learning along.

Yensid: You are a work of art, my dearest flower. My first lesson to you is to never let anyone treat you as less than a princess.

Cleo: That’s nice, papa. ~gets distracted by a bug~

Yensid: ~sigh~

Poor Happy is always hard at work, even during his time off, whether he’s painting a masterpiece or gathering food for his family.

Happy: It sure is relaxing being away from my father’s drama for a while, Mr. Salamander.

He does seem to like the peace his tasks bring, though.

Yensid adores his new daughter, always cuddling and playing with her.

Cleo: Put me down, papa! You’ve been holding me too long, I need to move!

Soon enough, it’s time for Yensid to leave the realm of young adulthood.

Yensid: I’ve become old and weary, and I’ve yet to become the world’s best knight…

I think he’s having a midlife crisis, but it’s been a long time since I played this out so I’ve forgotten if he is for sure.

With his artistic endeavors and his household responsibilities, it’s easy to forget that Happy also has schoolwork to attend.

Happy: I don’t need math homework, I’m going to be an artist! Artists don’t need to learn long division.

Cleo may have finally found an outlet for her excess energy in the xylophone. Handy, as she’s a spare of the art and music generation.

There are still other skills to learn though, so the music will have to wait.

Cleo: Do you have to watch me while I go, papa?

Yensid: Happy, I know we’ve had our differences lately, but please know that I love you dearly, my only son. I hope you’ll take the skills I’ve imparted on you and use them wisely once you grow into a man.

Happy: So, I should abandon my family on a regular basis? Sure, father.

While Sid has been stepping up with Cleo since missing her birth, he certainly isn’t the only one attempting to teach her. Ella’s taken to channeling her energy into learning to walk.

It can be hard for either of them to teach her anything though when she hides.

After what seemed like eons to Happy, it was finally time for him to grow into a teen! More freedoms were finally coming his way.

Yensid: Eeee!!! My dearest son has grown into a charming prince!

Happy: Please don’t ever squeal again, father.

He did turn out quite handsome, and the spitting image of Ella. Our little dwarf became a perfectionist, growing further into his good boy image. But between a deteriorating relationship with his father and the freedoms that come with teenhood, will our perfect heir begin to stray from his path?

1.10: Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide

Ella: Good morning, good morning. Time for Happy to wake up.

Happy: It was charming the first time, mother, but now it makes me very irate!

Happy: ~grumbles~ I could’ve slept a little longer and still had time for my homework, mother…

It’s not such a bad thing to get an early start to the day, though. There are usually no other Sims lurking about while Happy fishes in the morning.

Ella: I sing my thanks to my hardworking husband, who provides me all I need.

Yensid: How kind of my wife to serenade me while I battle this broken toilet.

Yensid: Let me show you my appreciation, dearest Ella, mother of my children.

Ella: You’re so sweet, Sid. Hey, what do you say we go out somewhere as a family before the new baby comes?

Yensid: That sounds wonderful, my love.

So off the family went to have a nice dinner together. Ella had a work opportunity to eat at this restaurant, so I thought it would be nice for everyone to join in.

Happy: I’m so excited to eat actual food for once instead of just fish and vegetables!

The Wedways leave satisfied. Well, except for Yensid.

Yensid: Never again, family! That place was filled with evils!

Happy: I, for one, quite enjoyed the “evils” of modern convenience.

One of Happy’s classmates, Anne Song, was hanging around outside.

Happy: Oh hey, Anne. Didn’t expect to see you here.

Anne: Yeah, thanks for interrupting my momentary peace.

While Happy makes a new friend, Sid and Ella are all over each other.

Woman: Boo to the little boy for making friends, thus making his parents stick around and flaunt their love!

Anne’s pretty cute, but I’m not quite sold on any of his little friends yet for his spouse.

Happy: What do you think of the arts, Anne? Do you enjoy painting or sculpting or music? Any form of artistic expression is cool.

Anne: I visit the art gallery every so often, but I doubt I’ll be painting a masterpiece anytime soon.

Happy: Oh. Well that’s okay, sometimes that kind of thing develops with time.

Hmm, we might have to keep looking.

Note: I think the kid doing homework in the background has disappeared from my game. I’ve tried hunting her down to see if she’d be a suitable spouse, and I can’t find her. Weird.

The family gets back home pretty late, leaving Sid vulnerable to an alien abduction.

Yensid: This violation has made me feel ill…

Please no alien baby, please no alien baby….

We already have one unplanned baby too many.

Ella: Oh my, the baby is coming!

It’s a girl!

Ella: Sid and I decided on Cleo if we had a daughter.

Cleo is named after Geppetto’s pet fish from Pinocchio. She was born neurotic and perceptive. Her favorite color is grey, like her father’s! Both our children take their favorite color from one of their parents.

Ella is quick to put Cleo in her crib and get back to playing her guitar.

Ella: I’m simply overjoyed with our new baby, I must sing about it!

Sid wasn’t home to witness the birth of his new child, however. He had something else entirely on his mind.

Yensid: The valiant lady knight. I must visit her once again!

Sid had to wait across the street for Jessica to get home, as she gets off from work an hour later than him. He decided to romantically hug this old woman while he waited.

Yensid: Oh, random old lady. How nice it feels to have another’s arms wrapped around me. I’ve no idea why one must be restrained in the number of people they may receive this comfort from.

Hugging isn’t the problem, Sid.

Happy: Mother, where’s father? He should’ve been home ages ago, and he hasn’t even met Cleo yet.

Ella: Don’t you worry, Happy. He’ll be walking through that door any minute now.

Unfortunately for them, he won’t be walking through their door for quite some time.

Jessica: Yensid? This is quite the surprise.

Yensid: Jessica, my flower. You’re looking as dashing and beautiful as ever.

While Jess invited Sid inside, her son made his way out of the house and into the snow. This is Kaid, the son of Jessica and Nicholas Riverhawk. Nick first had a kid with Cassidy Earthsong, then with Jessica. Now he’s back with Cassidy, who’s divorced and pregnant with her ex-husband’s child.

Yensid took pity on the poor baby and picked him up so he wouldn’t freeze.

Jessica: So, pretty boy, you ready for some lovin’? Tired of that dull wife of yours already?

Yensid: Jessica, we must talk. Your son could be in danger if you continue to neglect him this way.

Jessica: All he needs is a strong father figure such as yourself in his life.

Yensid: You know that can’t happen, my lady knight. I have my own family. I can visit from time to time, but that would only be bandaging an open wound. You must step up for young Kaid.

Jessica: I guess you’re right, Sid. But you’re here now, so can’t we just pretend for one night?

Yensid: You have me for the night, my dear. No need to pretend. You have my full attention.

Jessica: This is nice…

He wishes for Jess every now and then, thus these visits. But it’s always a “watch the stars” wish. This is still bad, of course, but at least it’s not flirting or kissing or anything like that.

Sid could stand to take his own advice about being there for his son, though, as Happy has been waiting for him out in the cold all night.

Happy: I don’t think father’s coming home tonight, Bashful…

Jessica: I’m so glad you came, Sid. It means a lot to me. It’s getting very late though, and the streets could be dangerous for you to bike on with the snow and ice. Stay the night with me? You can go back home in the morning.

Yensid: Jessica…

Jessica: I have a spare bedroom you can use, it doesn’t have to be like that. Although, I wouldn’t complain if you wanted something more.

Yensid: The spare bedroom would be nice, thank you.

And so, Yensid stayed the night after his dalliance, leaving his family wondering when he’ll return.

He and Jessica didn’t sleep well throughout the night though, kept up by Kaid’s tired wails. Sid gave Jessica some money to buy him a crib, and went on his way to make it up to Ella and Happy.

1.9: An Unexpected Development

The night before Happy’s first day of school, he dreamt of the exciting adventures he’d have and the new friends he’d make.

Ella: Learning about cooking can wait. I need to make sure Happy is up in time for school.

Ella: ~Wake up, Happy! Face the day! A new adventure comes your way!~

Happy: Aww, thanks mom. What a nice way to wake up!

Happy: I can’t wait to make some new friends!

This day also marked Ella’s transition into proper adulthood.

She looked much the same, but she certainly felt more mature.

Yensid: My love! You’re looking ravishing, as always.

Ella: You always say the sweetest things, Yensid.

Ella: You still love me, even though I’m getting old?

Yensid: I love you more now than ever before, my Princess.

Of course, he had to prove his love.

Then it was back to business as usual.

Happy attended to his chores when he returned home from school.

He also had homework to finish.

Happy: I thought school stuff was for school…this is vexing.

Soon after becoming a proper adult, Ella started to become ill.

She soon found out that she wasn’t sick, just pregnant again.

*Dang it, Ella. I figured I’d end up breaking the one child rule at some point, but I definitely didn’t expect it to happen in the first generation! Ughh, good thing I’m not keeping score.

Ella: Oh, Sid! I have the best news! Happy isn’t going to be an only child for much longer.

Yensid: You’re with child again?! Ella, this is wonderful news!

*Well, at least these two are happy about it…

Happy wasn’t around to hear the news. He was on his way to visit the town’s art gallery.

Blake: Out of the road, kid! Use the damn sidewalk!

When he got to the gallery, one particular girl caught his eye.

Happy: Hey, you’re that girl from class. Lora, right?

Lora: Yeah, Lora Colby. I’m surprised you remembered, it’s pretty hard to pay attention in Mrs. Lawrence’s class. It’s so cold in that room.

Happy: Yeah, I noticed. The cold, that is. Very cold room.

Lora: Smooth, kid.

Happy: Can I tell you a secret? I’ve never really been around other people before besides my parents. So, I’m really sorry if I’m awkward. I do like you though, do you think we can be friends?

Lora: Look, kid. You seem nice. But I’m not really interested. My parents know who your parents are. I’m not really looking for your kind of lifestyle. I’m all about the moolah, you know?

Happy: What a woman.

Happy: I’m gonna show you that I can provide you the best kind of life ever, Lora. Just you wait!

Lora: We’ll see about that.

Lora: See ya, kid. I have a butterfly sculpture calling my name.

With his new “friend” Lora as his muse, Happy gets back home and paints a portrait inspired by her.

The finished portrait hangs in his room, a reminder to be the best he can and prove himself to Lora.

1.8: A Growing Boy

Winter is upon the Wedway family, and Yensid takes every opportunity to enjoy the snow.

Yensid: You, Mr. Snowman, shall serve as the new protector of this family.

With the family’s pond frozen over, he also ice skates quite often.

Ella: Can we skate together, Sid? It sounds so romantic, like a movie scene!

Yensid: I’m afraid I cannot do that, Ella dear. I’m much too tired after all that fun.

Ella: Oh. I suppose that’s logical.

Luckily she has other things to keep her occupied.

Like Granny Shue showing up in the middle of the night.

Ella: Who could that be at this time of night? They’d better not wake Happy.

Ella: Oh, Ms. Shue. How nice to see you.

Granny Shue: Please, call me Granny.

Granny Shue: I wanted to propose a deal between our families. Since Yensid is so keen on stealing from my garden, I thought you could do something for me and agree to an arranged marriage. My Dany is quite the catch.

Ella: I don’t know, Granny. I think Star is a good choice too. What am I saying, Happy’s way too young to be thinking about romantic prospects!

Granny Shue: Well now, don’t discount my Gary. He’s a real sweetheart.

Ella: I don’t doubt that all your children are wonderful, ma’am. I’m just not comfortable agreeing to an arranged marriage for my toddler. Perhaps you could come over for dinner some other time, when Happy is older, and we can talk about this more then.

Granny Shue: You’re right, it’s getting kind of late.

Granny Shue: And it’s getting rather cold out here.

Ella: You’re right, I should be getting back inside. Goodnight, Granny. Thank you for dropping by.

Granny Shue: She’s going to invite me in, right? She wouldn’t let me freeze out here.

Ella: I do hope she gets back home alright.

Yensid: I sense my wife has just had a pleasant conversation.

Toddlerhood went by quickly for Happy, and he now grows into a child!

He became an artistic lad, which luckily fits well with the next generation!

Happy: Glad to please!

He was given an easel as a birthday gift, and he was quick to start painting.

Knowing that his parents have been busy with work, Happy also takes up the role of fishing for food.

Happy: Oh man…this is harder than I thought…

Happy: I got something! I hope father is pleased!

Poor Ella keeps breaking things in the “bathroom.”

Fortunately, Yensid needs to improve his handiness for work, so he doesn’t mind fixing the tub.

Yensid: Son, now that you’re old enough to go to school, you’re going to start seeing some strange things outside the house. I want you to remember that those devices are against our lifestyle. You must avoid them.

Happy: You mean like the weird thing that rings in your pocket?

Yensid: I know not what you speak of.

Happy: You don’t have to worry about that stuff with me, dad. All I want is to make you proud.

Yensid: What a good boy I’ve raised.

1.7: Happy Working Song

We start off with spam of our adorable dwarf, Happy. We’ll need his cuteness to counteract the possibly ugly interaction between Yensid and Ella after he didn’t come home until late last night.

Ella: Sid, my darling! I missed you last night! Happy got bigger, did you see?

Yensid: I’m sorry, my love…there were matters I simply had to attend.

Ella: I know, dear. You have to support us since I haven’t been able to work. I understand.

Yensid: I…yes. You’re exactly right.

I guess that went better than I thought.

Ella’s been drifting apart from her sister, Astrid, lately, so I sent her over to rekindle their friendship.

Ella: Sister! I’ve missed you, how have you been?

Astrid: Oh, I’ve been better. Been having to use the bathroom a lot. I’m sure you understand that pretty well, though.

Ella: She must be referring to the recent birth of her daughter! Oh, aren’t you just precious!

Astrid’s daughter is called Alexandra, I think? Her father is some married dude. You can do better, Astrid!

Ella’s other sister isn’t too thrilled to see her, though.

Eunice: If it isn’t Ella, the golden child. You think you can just waltz back into our lives after you made it perfectly clear that you were too good for us?

Ella: I simply had to live my own life, sister. I’m sorry you feel that way.

Ella: Fine. I can see when I’m not wanted.

Back home, Happy has discovered his imaginary friend. He decided to call him Bashful, named after another of the seven dwarves.

Happy: Bafful is my bestest friend.

Mama Ella begins teaching Happy to talk.

Ella: You’re so smart, baby. Just like your daddy. I know you’re just going to light up this house someday.

Happy: Light! Light!

Yensid continues to raise his athletic skill.

And he of course helps with Happy too.

Yensid: What if my indiscretion has caused irreparable damage to Happy’s mind?

Yensid: Good Plumbob! My selfish deeds have wrecked havoc upon this house!

Luckily, Happy was young enough that he doesn’t remember anything. So long as Yensid doesn’t keep pulling shenanigans on us, I think his psyche will be fine.

It certainly helps that Yensid is such a good father.

None-the-wiser, Ella has a nice dinner with her husband.

Ella: I love you so much, Yensid.

Yensid: And I you, my princess.

Yensid: And I love you most of all, my Happiness.

Happy: Daddy! Daddy!

Let’s hope things don’t change when he sees Jessica again at work.

Yensid: I cannot see that horrid she-witch, that seductress! She shall not stray me from my path once again.

While dad’s at work, Ella and Happy play some music together.

Happy also gets started learning to walk.

Of course, Ella also takes some time to study cooking.

Yensid helps out with the toddler-rearing when he gets home.

Yensid: Here, son. This note produces the most pleasing sound.

Happy: The red one! I play the red one!

And luckily, Sid remains faithful after seeing Jess again.

Yensid: I have missed you, my love. How faired you while I was away?

Ella: Happy’s making so much progress, Sid! I’m so proud of him.

Yensid: As am I, Ella dear.

In the morning, Sid gets another workout in.

And Ella finally gets to go back to work!

Sid gets more chances to raise his handiness skill. Not many objects in the house means that things aren’t broken very often.

And when his beloved wife returns, the two celebrate together the only way they know how.

Happy: Momma! Daddy! I hungry!!!!

Yensid: Worry not, Happy. Your daddy will rescue you from hunger.

There we go. A despaired face just didn’t look good on our Happy.

1.6: Complications

In the morning, Yensid spends some time with his newborn baby.

It’s off to work soon after, though. With Ella still on maternity leave, someone needs to bring in the money.

Ella spends some time by herself, studying cooking.

Then it’s time to care for Happy.

Ella: Good morning, nooboo. Ready for breakfast?

Ella: Mamma’s ready for her breakfast too!

Ella: What a blessing my baby is.

The rest of her day is spent playing guitar.

Yensid’s been rising in the ranks of the military career!

Ella: Welcome home, my darling! I’m so proud of the progress you’ve been making. Care to follow me to bed for a congratulations?

Yensid: Of course, my love. Lead the way.

Poor Ella is up early, and receives an unexpected visit.

Ella: What’s…going on?

Ella: What’s happening? Where am I going?

Ella: Someone help! Yensid?!!

After a while, Ella is delivered back mostly unharmed.

Ella: What happened? Who is that strange, green man?

Alien: What a shame, I captured a female. Next time, I shall find a male specimen to carry our genetics.

Not yet, you won’t. I would like an alien baby in this legacy, but hopefully not until the baby restriction is lifted.

Ella: I can’t go back home yet, Yensid would be furious with me…he can’t find out about my dalliance with an alien…

Sid hasn’t noticed anything is out of order. He’s busy working on his handiness skill before work.

While he’s gone, Ella decides to help out with his garden.

Ella: Maybe he’ll forgive me if I do nice things for him!

Little did Ella know, Sid had something else on his mind.

Jessica: Yensid! What brings you here?

Yensid: Lady knight! It’s so good to see you. I haven’t been able to get you off my mind…

Jessica: Please, come inside. We have a lot to talk about.

Jessica: You know my roommate, Nicholas? There’s something I need to tell you about him.

Yensid: There’s no need, milady. Right now, let’s just focus on the two of us.

Back home, Sid was missing out on Happy growing up.

Ella: Don’t worry, Happy. I’m sure your father will be home soon. He must have just stayed late at work.

Ella: It sure is getting late, though…

Happy grew into an adorable toddler! He has his father’s blue eyes and a mix of his parents’ skin tones. He has black hair, maybe a throwback to Lonnie?

Unfortunately for him, his father wasn’t there to see his growth.

Yensid: Do you ever picture us together, Jessica?

Jessica: Of course I did, Yensid. Until you threw it all away.

Yensid: Perhaps that was a mistake.

Nicholas: Don’t mind me, I’ll just be monitoring the direction of this conversation.

Yensid: Please, come outside with me. I’d like some privacy.

Jessica: This is nice, isn’t it?

Yensid: Yes…very nice.

And with that, Yensid’s wish to watch the stars with Jessica was fulfilled. It would seem he hasn’t given up yet on his wishy-washy ways.

To make matters worse, he ruined the relationship between Jessica and Nicholas. That’s right, they were dating. Cassidy, who previously had a baby with Nicholas, took the opportunity to try stealing her man back.

Cassidy: I love you, Nicky. I love the daughter we made together. I think we should give us another chance.

Nicholas: I don’t think so, Cass. Jessica did hurt me, but I’m not leaving her over one mistake. She’ll get over this Yensid guy once she realizes he’s not leaving his wife for her.

Cassidy: Just you wait, my love. You will be mine.

Back home, Happy seems rather sad.

Ella: Don’t you worry, baby. I know daddy will be back home soon. He loves us. He’d never do anything to hurt us.

Ella waited for Yensid for quite some time, but she eventually gave up and went to bed.

Late into the night, Sid returned home.

Yensid: My little lad has grown! I am sorry that I missed it Happy. I promise it shall not happen again.

Laying down next to his wife, Yensid knew he’d have some explaining to do come morning.

1.5: Oh, Happy Day

We start the day with chores, as always.

Afterwards, Ella interrupts Yensid’s cleanup time.

Yensid: Woman! A man needs his private time!

Ella: Sorry, my love. My stomach was upset and I just couldn’t hold it back…

Yensid: I do love that woman, but that was absolutely revolting.

Ella: I do hope you’ll forgive my earlier conduct, Sid. I don’t know what came over me.

Yensid: It’s alright, my dear. Eat this fish I caught for you, perhaps it’ll make you feel better.

That night, Ella finds out the reason she’s been feeling weird.

Ella: I think I’m having a baby!

Ella: I’m glad you’re awake, Sid. I have exciting news! We’re going to have a baby!

Yensid: That’s wonderful news, my dear! A baby made from our love…I cannot wait to meet him.

Ella: We may have a girl.

Yensid: I just have a feeling, princess.

The couple spent a lot of time reading the next day, between Sid’s book for work, Ella’s cooking skill books, and the pregnancy book.

There was also a bit of hands-on skilling as well.

And of course, Yensid continued to rise up the ranks in the military.

Ella: I’m so proud of the progress you’ve made, Sid. Shall we celebrate?

Yensid: I’d like nothing more, my love.

Yensid: I was wondering, my dear…would you like to accompany me to the park? I hear there’s a festival going on.

Ella: A date?! I’d love to!

While at the festival, our founding couple took part in an apple bobbing contest.

Ella: Please go easy on me, Sid. I don’t know how well I’ll be able to do with my pregnant belly in the way.

Yensid: A knight never goes easy on his foes, even when that foe is also his love!

The winner is Ella!

Ella: That was fun, wouldn’t you say?

Yensid: Must…catch breath…

Afterwards, the couple heads to the haunted house.

Ella: Oh, bother…I think those actors scared me so much that my stomach is starting to hurt…

Yensid: I don’t think it’s stomach pain, my love…I think the baby is coming!

Woman: Baby?! I’m definitely not qualified to handle this!

Ella: Oh no…I can’t scar all these people by having my baby right now!

Ella: Just stay in there, little baby. Once we’re back home, you can come out!

Ella: I sure hope this is quick. This is tiring…

Yensid: My love! I’m glad you made it home. What can I do to help?

Ella: You can remove our “no technology” rule, for one thing.

Yensid: You know I don’t understand you when you speak of such things.

After a long labor, a baby boy was finally born!

Ella: I think we should name him Happy, after the happiness he’s brought us. What do you think, dear?

Yensid: You may name him whatever you like, milady, so long as we can put him to bed soon.

Baby Happy was named after the cheerful dwarf from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Our Happy was born good and friendly, already shaping up to take after his namesake! His favorite color is red, like Ella’s.

I never expanded the house when Ella moved in, so I used Happy’s birth to add a room for both him and his mother.

After putting their newborn son to bed, Ella and Yensid settle into bed in their new bedroom.
